I like the last question, which addresses the ethics of performance-enhancing drugs. This would give your research a larger scope--that is, you could deal with the larger ethical questions that have to do with competition and fairness.
I remember one student who wrote about a ball player who used special contact lenses to improve his play. As technology becomes more sophisticated, the whole issue of "performance enhancement" becomes more complex and hard to define.
Do you want to focus on professional athletics or college? Will you focus on football or include other sports? You may want to consider these questions as you refine your search strategy.
